 Dear  Brothers and Sisters,

 

 We, Doro-Chiba Support Committee, has received the following email from a
 female student activist.
 We can say with certainty that your enduring strike action is really
 creating a concrete international solidarity.

 My name is Mayumi, a member of ZENGAKUREN (National Federation of
Students’

      Self-Government Associations) and I am a sophomore of a university in
 Hiroshima City.

      I saw the website of Doro-Chiba Support Committee and I was really moved!
 ( Occasionally I saw the website…)

     I belonged to the brass band club at my elementary and junior high school
 age and blew a trombone. I learned to play piano from 4 years to 15 years
 old, and I was a music- loving girl. Of course I love music even still
 now.

    Now I think you can guess the reason why I was moved.
 Right! I saw photos of UAW364 supporting action of Doro-Chiba Support
Committee and TCCLU! "Wow!" I was surprised at the moment I looked at
those  photos!

   I could not forget about music and around one month ago, I went to a
musical instruments shop of Yamaha in Hiroshima City to look at trombones. I was
gazing at the trombones wondering in my mind “Oh dear me! Where is my
favorite Bach trombone?”

   At the moment, a salesclerk of YAMAHA shop came out and he told me, ”STEINWAY  bought KING, CONN and BACH’s subsidiary and the craftsmen of BACH went  on a strike and got fired. So now, BACH’s instruments don’t come into market. BACH’s instruments are now made by the craftsmen of KING and CONN. They
are totally different from the ones made before.”

    What are you talking about? BACH’s craftsmen were fired and other
craftsmen make them? It cannot be BACH!” (I felt anger against STEINWAY.)

   Nevertheless the workers of American brass instrument production factory
keep on fighting, and Japanese workers are supporting them. Amazing! I
was really moved.   Can I ask you to give me information about the conduct of Nonaka Boeki Co.,  Ltd, and the struggle of US workers you are supporting?

   A friend of mine told me, ”There is a possibility that those workers
come to November rally in Japan (*).” Is it true? If they are coming, I would
like to talk with them.
Sorry to give you a long message, but if you don’t mind, please write me
back.
